[amsat-bb] MIR 16th Anniversary of SSTV

December 12, 2014 marked the 16th year anniversary of the historic and very successful event of receiving live SSTV pictures from the Mir Space Station. On December 12, 1998 the 1st pictures were received on Earth and continued through April 2000 consisting of several hundreds of exciting images of the crew, space and of the Earth. Pictures were created by a small SSTV System developed through the efforts of several Amateur Radio Operators including Don Miller, W9NTP, Hank Cantrell, W4HTB, Farrell Winder, W8ZCF, Miles Mann, WF1F, David Larsen, N6CO and Sergej Samburov, RV3DR. Mir was deorbited in March, 2001 after a 15 year voyage.
