Return of Experimenter’s Wednesday to AO-85

With the recent popularity of Slow Scan Television (SSTV) from the ISS, AMSAT Operations is bringing back Experimenter’s Wednesday to AO-85.

On a trial basis, we invite users to exchange pictures using Robot36 SSTV mode via the FM repeater on AO-85 during UTC Wednesdays. Please identify prior to beginning transmissions, and only send when the uplink is clear.

Stations are requested to only uplink if they have a reasonable expectation of maintaining a full-quieting signal for the duration of the image transmission. Smaller stations are encouraged to focus on receiving the images.

Please don’t send questionable or provocative images. If in doubt, pick another one. Expect all ages to be participating.

CY9C DXpedition Active On Satellite

After a delay due to weather and equipment difficulties, the CY9C DXpedition to St. Paul Island is now active on satellite. On a pass of FO-29 during the 02:00 UTC hour on August 25, 2016, they made the first satellite QSO from St. Paul Island in over 18 years, working Peter Goodhall, 2E0SQL, in England. David Webb, KB1PVH, in Massachusetts was also logged on that pass. On the next FO-29 pass, numerous stations across North America from Massachusetts and Ontario to Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas were logged. K6R Expedition to Santa Rosa Island and CM93

Satellite Friends and Colleagues,

Today we’re happy to announce the K6R Satellite Expedition to Santa Rosa
Island and CM93 is a go for September 16th-18th, 2016. We have secured
permissions and arranged to get to the island, spend 2 nights camping, and
operate on a number of Satellite passes – as well as some terrestrial and
HF too.

We’ll be posting updates on the K6R QRZ.com page at
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/K6R and over the coming months with FAQs,
pictures, and more information.
