ANTELSat

ANTELSat is the first satellite launched by Uruguay. This is a 2U cubesat, and was launched via a Dnepr launch vehicle on 19 June 2014 at 19:11 UTC, from Yasny, Russia. ANTELSat was deployed from UniSat 6 on 20 June 2014, 21:06 UTC.

ANTELSat was developed by the Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad de la República (State Faculty of Engineering, AKA FING) and ANTEL, the national telecommunications service provider of Uruguay.

The goals of the mission are to:

  • Develop skills in radio and aerospace engineering
  • Promote STEM education
  • Provide challenging activities for undergraduate students
  • Provide visual and IF images of the earth surface
  • Provide services to the amateur radio community
