  Wouldn't you like flashing the pic with the G6LVB tracker firmware and make the circuit? (google: g6lvb).
  I made it with an old HAMIV rotator and a pic16F877A. 
  LVB tracker does a great job and speaks serial words Linux could understand.

  I am re-visting a rotator controller.

  I am curious, should I push the processing of the "compare and make a decision" onto the PIC, or pull that function back into the PC ?

  PC is LINUX 

  I/O is serial 

  PIC is 16F877
